University Marketing and Communications Internship
I was very fortunate to acquire an internship at The University Marketing and Communications Agency. The UMC is the universities' in-house marketing agency. This was a great opportunity that allowed me to gain experience in all parts of the production process; pre-production client meetings, creative-writing meetings, live-production setup, live video shoots, and post production. All clients are university-affiliated whom utilize our agency and skilled personnel to promote themselves to the public. The videos below are projects that I was assigned to with my supervisor, Adam Rahn.

- Boyd Tinsley of "The Dave Matthews Band" Screening and Performance
This was an event that I coordinated solely on the fact that I just wanted it to happen. As an avid fan of the band's work, I follow (violinist) Boyd Tinsley on Twitter and discovered that not only did he produce his own independent film, but he was "touring" screenings of the film all over the country. I read that fans were able to submit to him and Filament Productions why "my city" would be a great location for the tour, so I instantly wrote a very professional and enthusiastic proposal to them regarding bringing the film to Illinois State University.
Surprisingly, Boyd Tinsley himself, was the one who got back to me first...and he was as excited as I was! From that point on, I promised myself that I would work as hard as possible to make sure that I could produce a great live event, as well as meet one of my musical heroes. Filament Productions told me that they wanted the event to be on Feb. 14th 2013 or it could not happen due to the tour schedule and pre-arranged flights. They told me the ideal "event-flow" and to do the best I could to produce it accordingly. After months of syndicating with Registered Student Organizations, contacting numerous venue candidates, promotional sources (local radio stations, local newspaper distributers, official ISU social media pages, and even the local television news station), and a local band to perform with Tinsley, the event was carried out "perfectly and beautifully" according to Boyd. The event brought in over 200 attendees, which, "was way more than last night in Denver, Colorado!" said Boyd Tinsley.
Coordinating this event was life-changing for me. It gave me confidence in my abilities to communicate with a wide array of individuals, overcome adversity, and utilize my surroundings to make something great happen. My social media, promotional, human interaction, and leadership skills really grew and shined throughout the entire process. This event has opened my eyes to the career options of a Producer or Director of a given department in an agency. It was an experience that I will never forget and will forever leave me hungry to produce great work.
